The feeling of the original, perfected. We retrace their handwriting so it's clear and easy to read, clean up stains, creases and shadows, and correct misspellings. Their abbreviations and shorthand stay, so it still reads like them. Want their spelling kept exactly as written? Just choose that style.
Priced by condition
- Light, $24: readable writing; mostly cleaning creases, stains and shadows
- Moderate, $29: faded or scrawled writing; most lines retraced
- Heavy, $39: very faint or missing writing, torn pieces, or a dense full page. Extra-large or very difficult recipes may be quoted higher.
Prices are per side; a two-sided card is 2. Not sure which level? Choose your best guess. We confirm the price before we start, and if your recipe needs a different level, we'll let you know first.
Style: aged paper keeps the feel of the original card; clean white is crisp and bright for printing on gifts.
How to send your recipe
- Upload it when you order (fastest): add a clear photo or scan in the upload box. Lay the recipe flat in good light, with no shadows, and fill the frame. Ready in a few days.
- Send us the original: choose "Sending the original," which adds $1 per side for us to scan it on our flatbed. Drop it off at our shop, or mail it to PhotoSynthesis, 317 Main St, Ames, IA 50010, with your name and order number. Ready in about a week, and your original comes back to you. Return shipping is added if we mail it back.
