What is RecipeGifts.com? What is PhotoSynthesis? PhotoSynthesis is our brick and mortar store located in the heart of downtown Ames, Iowa. We opened January 5, 2009, but owner Lisa has been designing gifts and cards for people around the world since 2001! Recipegifts.com is a part of Lisa's business that focuses on celebrating and preserving your favorite recipes with custom recipe gifts.
What if my recipe is not digital? You can photograph it and submit it to us! For photo tips click here. https://youtu.be/cb0pnvHV1Bg You can also scan your recipe card. Make sure to scan it at 300 dpi and include the edges of the card in your scan. If you'd like to mail your card to us to scan and return to you with your order, get in touch with us for further information!
My recipe is not on a traditional recipe card, how can I order these products? Is your favorite recipe from a website, or printed on regular paper? Or is too large? We can type your recipe onto one of our card designs! Look for the custom items that allow you to cut and paste your recipe into the customization area, and choose the design you'd like us to use for your recipe. If you need more info, or have other requests/questions let us know! Custom orders always welcome.
Can I see a proof of my order before shipping? Absolutely, in fact we require your approval via email that your design is correct before we make your item/s!
Can I add different background, more text, more photos, etc.? Absolutely. You'll see your customization options when you choose an item. Would you like something completely custom? Maybe you'd like unique graphics created just for your specific recipe? We'd love to help! If you can dream it, we can design it! What is your exchange/return policy? Our products are custom made to order. You will be able to approve a proof of your design and layout before we make it! Since you approve a proof before we make your item/s, since we can't re-sell a custom item, returns are not accepted unless a wrong item was sent or an item was damaged in transit. If that has occurred, please contact us for further instructions so we can remedy this asap for you!
There is a mistake on my design I approved, and I didn't notice until I got it or after I approved it. Oops! This happens, and we feel for you. As a courtesy to you we will re-design and send a new proof for approval and make a new item at a reduced cost (50% off) for you. Do note that once you approve your proof, it is sent in the printing queue immediately and no changes can be made at that point!
How long will it take to get my order? Once you approve your proof, your order is sent to print and shipped within 2-3 days, M-F in most cases. Shipping is generally 1-7 business days depending on your distance from Ames, Iowa. Our flat rate shipping in the US is either first class or priority mail, depending on the weight of your package. If you'd like expedited shipping you'll be given those options during checkout.
How much will shipping cost? To make things easy, we charge a flat $4.99 shipping to US addresses for custom recipe gifts items only (does not include Lefse Mugs). This is for regular shipping; if you'd like expedited shipping you can see your options at checkout based on your order and package destination.
