Aunt Lisa’s Lavender Syrup
Making lavender syrup this morning. It adds a delicious flavor to anything hot or cold! 😋 Bonus, it reminds me of my time in France 🇫🇷☺️. I’d grab a bouquet at the market whenever it was available. My third-floor apartment was older, with those big, tall window doors that opened onto the street below. I could just see the garden park at the end of the street where lavender was grown in abundance. Quintessential France.❤️
Ingredients
- 2 cups water
- 2 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup + 2 T whole lavender flowers
Directions
- Put your lavender in a bouquet garni bag or something similar (I use a canning bag!). In a small/medium saucepan, add the water and sugar, put over low heat, and stir until sugar is melted. Add your lavender sachet and bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally. Note: I’ll also push down on the sachet a bit from time to time to extract more flavor from the lavender.
- Once simmering, turn off the heat and let it steep for 20 minutes.
- Remove the sachet and squeeze out extra liquid. You don’t want to lose any of that delicious lavender syrup!
- Pour your lavender syrup into an airtight glass vessel and enjoy! 😋
- Keep stored in the fridge. It will last up to two weeks.😀
Enjoy!!
